University Cooperative School Welcomes New Head of School
University Cooperative School is delighted to announce the appointment of Heather Moss as our next Head of School, starting July 2026. Throughout an intensive search process, Heather consistently demonstrated the qualities most aligned with U Co-op’s current needs and future aspirations. Her clarity of vision, depth of experience in educational leadership, and ability to connect authentically make her an exceptional choice to lead U Co-op into its next chapter.
With more than 20 years in independent education—as both a classroom teacher and administrative leader—Heather Moss is a steadfast advocate for progressive education and community engagement. Most recently, she served as Lower School Head at Westside School, where she led with a balance of strategic vision and deep care for students, faculty, and families. Heather’s alignment with University Cooperative School values, her proven capacity to lead with both warmth and decisiveness, and her readiness to begin this next chapter with our school made her the right choice to guide us forward.
“From the moment I first walked through U Co-op’s doors, the warmth and enthusiasm of your students, teachers, and families made me feel instantly at home. I am thrilled and deeply honored to join this community as your next Head of School. U Co-op’s progressive, child-centered approach is grounded in joyful learning, brave exploration, and authentic connection. It closely reflects the values I hold as an educator and leader. I look forward to partnering with you to nurture curious minds, strong voices, and engaged citizens. I can’t wait to begin this next chapter with all of you, continuing the meaningful work that makes U Co-op such a special place.”
