Where childhood is a journey, not a race

University Cooperative School is a progressive, community-oriented elementary school in Seattle’s North University District. Since 1975, we have valued children and celebrated childhood – that wonderfully rambunctious journey of a lifetime.

We meet children where they are, offering supports and challenges without rushing. Children leave University Cooperative School as confident speakers and thinkers, builders and social justice advocates, bike riders and skiers, artists and learners.

As a cooperative school, community is a cornerstone of our school culture. Families choose the University Cooperative School for its dynamic and supportive community of educators, parents, and children working together to make the school go and grow.

The Admissions Team seeks families of all backgrounds that value cooperative education. There is no cookie-cutter University Cooperative School student, which is part of what makes our school so exciting! We welcome applications for all grades.
