Rise and Shine Capital Campaign
The Rise & Shine Project was a community-powered investment in the future of University Cooperative School. Through the generosity of families, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends, we transformed our building into a more connected, accessible, and inspiring place for children to learn and grow. From enhanced and expanded learning spaces to critical seismic improvements and mechanical upgrades, the project fulfilled a long-held vision, allowing us to inhabit the full footprint of our building.
In partnership with CAST Architecture, Westlake Consulting Group, LLC, and Sellen Construction, the project updated our home, the historic Maxwell Building (Maxwell Motor Company - 1904- 1925), while preserving the distinctive features and unique characteristics of this 100-year-old landmark.
New Commons space for across discipline and grade-level learning, socializing, and play.
An art studio with more space.
New Student Services office for one-on-one tutoring and uninterrupted learning.
Seismic enhancements.
PHASE ONE – Lower Level
Expanded and upgraded science classroom for enhanced studies.
A dedicated Literacy Center.
Larger and more efficient classrooms.
Completion of seismic retrofitting – the final bracing of the north wall.
A welcoming new entryway with access to the lower level.
