Where childhood is a journey.

University Cooperative School is an independent elementary school in NE Seattle, inspiring Pre-K through 5th grade students.

For 50 years we have valued children and celebrated childhood – that wonderfully rambunctious journey of a lifetime.

Why University Cooperative

A University Cooperative School education carries students from pre-k through fifth grade, providing a perfect blend of academic vigor, inquiry, creativity, and character building.

Curiosity is our compass, and discovery awaits us at every corner! Our inquiry-based academics are vigorous, immersive, and tailored for every phase of student growth.

We believe all students are artists, and creativity isn’t confined to the canvas or the stage – it permeates every aspect of a child’s development. Art is infused in every level of our curriculum.

From the Methow to the mountains to the Salish Sea we embrace the wilderness as we explore, investigate, and study diverse environments and ecosystems throughout our state.

We get up and GO! We walk, ride bikes, and take buses and trains to visit our big city's vibrant neighborhoods, parks, and museums.

We’re steps away from Ravenna/Cowen Park, a hidden gem with 60 acres of wooded trails, babbling streams, and wildlife habitats teeming with rich opportunities for learning and fun.

Community is a cornerstone of our school culture. Families choose University Cooperative School for its dynamic and supportive community of educators, caregivers, and children.

We inspire tomorrow’s innovators with exciting experiments, inventive projects, and scientific exploration every day.

Since 1975, community, connectedness, and a culture of kindness have been at the heart of our school. We turn 50 this year!
