Hello, my name is Manya and I’m thrilled to be joining the K-2 pod and to be a part of the University Coop community! I’m a proud graduate of the “Think globally, act locally” era of Seattle Public Schools and my values are rooted in social justice and ethical humanism. I’m motivated by anti-bullying and anti-bias work, and a desire to help children build confidence and engage meaningfully with the world around them. My childcare background includes over 15 years of work and connection with children of all ages, needs and ability levels, and their families. In a past life, I had an MA in International Affairs from The New School University and worked in the non-profit industry.
My academic strengths include language arts, foreign language and music. I’m fluent in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese and am currently training to be a Music Together teacher. I’m excited to grow in this role, to support the work of University Coop’s
amazing lead teachers, and to learn how I can best contribute to this wonderful community.
