Auction FAQ
What are family procurement obligations? We ask families with one child at the school to procure at least two quality items; families with two children procure at least four items. In addition, we ask families to donate a bottle of wine for the wine grab!
Will there be food and beverages? Yes. University Co-op has a long tradition of fabulous potluck dinners at our auctions. Current parents will bring a dish.
Are children invited? The auction is an adults-only event. Babes in arms are the only exception.
What should I wear? Dress formal or funky—anything goes. Come ready to have fun.
What will be auctioned? Restaurant and store gift certificates, art, clothing,
jewelry, hand-spun treasures, professional services, parties, housewares, and more.
What is a silent auction? You’ll be able to view silent-auction items at your leisure during the early phase of the evening, and you will be able to bid on items by writing your bid number (assigned to you when you check in) on items’ bid sheets. Silent auctions close (end) at a designated time, and we’ll provide reminders about the schedule throughout the evening. More details will be available in the catalog.
Will there be a live auction? Yes, and it’s fun! In the live auction, you can bid on exciting outings, beautiful artwork, and more, and be entertained by the talented University Co-op community.
How do I invite someone outside of the University Co-op community? Please invite friends, family, and colleagues. Each family is asked to invite at least one person to the auction. The auction team will collect the names and e-mail addresses of the people you would like to invite (stay tuned for further instructions via e-mail) and the committee will send the invitations for you! The more, the merrier!
Does it cost anything to go to the auction? There is no cover charge, but do bring money to pay for the items you buy/win at the auction!
What if I am unable to attend the auction or I am not comfortable with procuring items and/or bidding on auction items? Please talk to one of the auction chairs to find a solution that works for your situation.
