Parents of more than one child do more classroom time than they would for just one, but each family has only one school job.

--What is the teacher student ratio?

Class size is generally one teacher to twelve kids. But with parent involvement, the adult to child ratio is 1 to 6.

--Why is it a multi-age classroom?

Multi-age groups provide an opportunity for a plethora of social experiences. Older children mentor younger children to reduce social, physical, and intellectual comparisons by exposing kids to a range of abilities. A multiple age classroom also allows the child to practice skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.

--What makes the faculty so consistent?

When your child enters kindergarten at UCoop, he or she will have the same teachers for three years. Because it is a multi-age classroom, the child will move up in grades and responsibilities, but will have the same faculty. There is no uncertainty about who their teacher the next year will be. When the child continues at the Coop and moves over to the 3-5 side, again, for three years, he or she will have the same teachers for those three years. In addition, teachers have been parent selected, are chosen for their tremendous initiative, and are the very best available.
